UK Fire Training evolved out of an organisation called SBG Training and Developments Ltd. Based in South Yorkshire, and originally created to help develop employment and training opportunities for people affected by the decimation of the coal and steel industry in the region, SBG went on to run large government funded programmes across the country. Integral to its role, SBG had a legal duty to promote and protect the health, safety and well-being of its staff and trainees which subsequently led to the business offering health and safety training and consultancy services to third party organisations.
A growth opportunity was seen in the fire safety sector and combined with the then Chief Executives’ previous fire engineering background it was decided that a specialist division would be developed and UK Fire Training was established in 2004.
The business strategy was to become the first choice for any organisation requiring on-site / in-company training. To achieve this aim, UK Fire Training developed a full range of fire safety training courses, including a number which are IFE accredited. A major differentiator for UK Fire Training was the ability to be able to tailor each course to the individual client’s requirements. A successful pre-course customisation procedure secured the custom of many large and respected companies becoming loyal clients that still work with us today.
The advent of the Regulatory (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the Fire Safety (Scotland) Act 2005 led to significant demand for fire safety services and this was reflected in the growth and development of UK Fire Training.
UK Fire Training, operates a network of highly experienced trainers and consultants, all of which are former or serving Fire Fighters. All trainers are required to have a formal training qualification (PTLLS or EAT) and a minimum of 5 years training experience. We have established a network which extends to cover all areas of the UK and we regularly undertake work in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Over the years, our client base has increased steadily, and we now provide training to in excess of 20,000 individual delegates on an annual basis.
Given the nature of our work and the bespoke nature of our training offering, our client base is both large and diverse. We operate within both the public and private sectors and have clients ranging in size from independent SME’s to large blue-chip organisations.
Many of our larger clients including British Red Cross, Barclays Bank, XPO Logistics, Welcome Break, Veolia, Unilever and the Hard Rock Cafe have used UK Fire Training for many years and now have unique, customer specific, fire training programmes in place that have been tailored to an even higher level than normal.
